Aquarius New Moon

Breakthroughs. Innovation. Revolution.

The Sun and Moon are forming a collective with rebellious Uranus

Your own personal genius…

The Sun and Moon line up at 20° Aquarius, who’s ruling planet is Uranus. The foundational Saturnian energy lingers, however, as Saturn is the traditional ruler of this sign as the planet Uranus was not discovered until long after the foundations of astrology were built. I can not, and will not, ignore the progress we have made in science, astrology, and astronomy, and strongly believe nothing can exist in a vacuum, so we can build upon the foundations of what came before and integrate the new knowledge that progress and evolution has brought us. Both Saturn and Uranus approve this message.

What’s good for the goose is good for the gander, they remind us.

We can’t be productive, loving citizens of this planet  and our immediate communities if we aren’t giving first to ourselves what we’d like to see in the world.

Aquarius is often called “the aliens of the zodiac”, unafraid to march to their own drums, detached from humanities conventions, and offering a fresh approach to challenges. I feel this is a little unfair, to suggest that they are square pegs trying to go in round holes hints that humanity manifests into a singular, specific “shape” to begin with. Perhaps this is attributed to my Gemini mutability, who couldn’t exist in a world without all of the varieties and flavors and potentials, that makes this a delicious energy to be in, as well as being  a fellow air sign. They are the humanitarians, scientists, and inventors, who can channel their divine strike of inspiration and sit with it to expand upon and improve what already exists for us.

We don’t lose ourselves in groups, sacrificing what makes us unique to fit into a mold set by the community, this is a more Piscean theme, because cerebral Aquarius knows that they’re greatest contribution is the very thing that sets them apart.

What is something that makes you unique that enriches those around you?

I’ve recently come to realize that my power comes from how I love. There’s a sheer sparkle of delight that radiates from me when I see a lovely flower or branch while on a walk, one that I’ve noticed very few share, where I stop, marvel and gush love songs or coo mothers’ whispers to it, and gush my glitter. My human companions might not share my love for lil’ bebe plants, but I can see their eyes light up in real time as  they mirror back that same joy in witness to such a raw, innocent, child-like wonder that they often remember but seldom express. We often have touring bands stay with us as they travel through and near Portland, which has been wonderful for this shy, easily overwhelmed, writer; one who feels so much anxiety (panic, really) in being in a crowded room filled with chaotic energy, and sudden loud noises that sets my parasympathetic nervous system into overdrive. Social interactions are at best base and fueled by alcohol, and a terrible representation of who I am as a person or community member. One Sunday morning, after a Bacchean evening where mushrooms were consumed and I ran off to a park, first solo, then followed by the group, to sit under the trees under the moonlight, we took the dogs for a walk in the early morning sun. As with every outing around the neighborhood I find a flower or a leaf that brings me to a full stop, and I sit in full wonder and pure giddiness of magick of blooms and buds.

Oh, I get it now!” remarks someone I’ve known on a surface level through the music scene for years, but never actually hung out with (on the grounds of me being a little forest farm hermit), “You’re just a little punk rock fairy!”

Well shit. I’ve heard few truer words in this lifetime.

Luckily, being different has always been something I’ve worn as a badge of honor, and is an Aquarian superpower that I’ve integrated effortlessly. Perhaps it's that Gemini moon that sits on the literal cusp of a busy 11th house (ruled by Aquarius), kissed by magnifying Jupiter, that made it so? I love this sort of astro-speak, and if you don’t speak this language yet I’d love to help you get there.

What does your 11th house look like?

What sign rules your 11th house? To find this look at the 10th-11th house cusp in your natal chart, what sign and degree is sitting at that point? Are there any planets or points sitting in your 11th house?

20/20 Vision

If you have any planets or points at or near 20° Aquarius, or any of the other Fixed Signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio), you’ll be feeling this New Moon more. By taking a closer look at these points will give you a better idea of how this New Moon energy will be playing out for you.

With a well informed opinion Aquarius knows how to make the cut with surgical precision. Science can be cold and uncaring when practiced without a conscience so balance needs to be achieved between head and heart. Are the people you associate with still in alignment with your current values? Since this is a New Moon we aren’t focused on releasing these people or habits or themes, but rather attracting the change you’d like to see. This is the time to set intentions for expansion, finding your tribe, and seeking a better fit. Remember, the energy of the Aquarius new moon encourages innovation, individuality, and progressive thinking.

Perhaps joining  a new group on social media that shares a love for a “guilty pleasure” is in order!
